COWDUDE
Filed in: Perl
COWDUDE (catalogue operation with database user data entry) is a perl script that interfaces with a mysql database to manage germplasm inventory tracking and barcode creation.
COWDUDE is currently in version 1.1.
COWDUDE tracks germplasm inventory from germination, harvesting, lyophilization, to DNA extraction, allowing users to update a mysql database with the current status of a germplasm accession.
COWDUDE makes use of postscriptbarcode to write barcodes in code 128. The barcode format is currently set for these labels, but the postscript template file could be modified for any format.
COWDUDE currently assumes a Mac OS X directory structure, but can be easily modified for windows or linux.
COWDUDE requires DBD::mysql, and DBI libraries.
The mysql table setup used by COWDUDE for sample tracking can be found here.
